All that can be heard is the wind and the rustling grass in the ruins of Ani. Birds singing breaks the silence. It’s hard to believe that this was once one of the most impressive cities of the medieval world, more populous than London and Paris at the time, and the capital of an Armenian Kingdom. The silence is also a testament to the silenced voices of the victims of 1915.

The film was screened at the Istanbul Biennial. Alys is a Belgian-born, Mexico-based interdisciplinary artist.
