The Pomegranate Film Festival will take place between November 16-22, 2015 in Toronto. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Festival will present a week-long program showcasing Armenian culture and related issues. As 2015 marks the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, the film program will kick off with an opening ceremony titled “100 Years and We’re Still Dancing.”

Actor Eric Bogosian (TALK RADIO) and legendary screenwriter Mardik Martin (RAGING BULL) are scheduled to participate in exclusive panels following film presentations at the Armenian Youth Centre and the Regent Theatre. Bogosian is best known for his television role as Captain Danny Ross, but is also an intellect who has written poetry and historical analysis as reflected in his latest book OPERATION NEMESIS.

Mardik befriended Martin Scorsese during his youth in New York City and their friendship burgeoned into remarkable artistic creativity. The Armenian screenwriter will be in Toronto to present THE CUT, the powerful drama on the Genocide by acclaimed German-Turkish director Fatih Akin. This exclusive screening will take place at the Regent Theatre.

POM offers an extensive and captivating film program, with short films, animation, documentaries and features from over 15 countries. French Master Robert Guediguian’s ARIANE’S THREAD serves as the film for the Gala Soirée on Saturday evening, while Guediguian’s drama, recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival, DON’T TELL ME THE BOY WAS MAD, has been selected as the Festival’s Finale film. From Spain, journalist Jose Antonio Gurriaran will attend POM to speak about the film which is loosely based on his personal experience, as a victim of a violent attack in Madrid in the early 1980s, as described in the best-seller LA BOMBA. Since that fateful day, the journalist has become a supporter of Armenian interests, showing an unbelievable expression of forgiveness.

With over 50 titles, POM X has a film for every taste as it aims to inspire and celebrate the longevity of Armenian talent, adding to the multicultural fabric of our city and our country. Exclusive panels, screenings, and performances will make the event unforgettable.
