SKHTORASHEN – Garegin Papoyan – Artsakh – 18 min. – North American Premiere

Skhtorashen, a village in the Martuni region in Artsakh, has been deserted for more than 30 years. This is the true life story of Lena, an 83 year old mother who lives alone in her rural home, away from her sons who have moved to neighbouring cities to pursue their education. As a widow, she lives each day of her life with dignity and pride, refusing to abandon her home and erase the village off the map of Artsakh. An enlightening documentary about the uncertain future of village life and the experiences of the elderly inhabitants who are often living alone in a precious part of the world.
