THE RIGHTEOUS TURK: Stony Paths - France/Turkey - Arnaud Khayadjanian - 61 min. - North American Premiere

Talented POMGrant recipient Arnaud Khayadjanian presents an emotional, informative documentary about his trek to Turkey, the land of his forefathers who survived the Armenian Genocide. He carries a sentimental painting along his journey, which holds a special meaning for him. Through various conversations and encounters, the young director explores the lesser known history of the Righteous, or, the anonymous people who helped the Armenians during the Genocide. Arnaud’s grandfather survived as a result of such an act of kindness in the village of Erzinga near Erzerum, and the director searches for remnants of that deed. This film is a powerful follow-up to the Sorbonne graduate’s earlier film, LOST HORIZONS (POM VIII), about a young fisherman in Corsica.
The film will be presented in conjunction with the Zoryan Institute. Talyn Terzian-Gilmour will serve as the Master of Ceremonies with a short yet lively musical performance celebrating the music of Western Armenia by Harout Bedrossian and the Horovel Classical Music Ensemble. Director Arnaud Khayadjanian will be attending from France and will be interviewed following the screening by Kourken Sarkissian on behalf of the Zoryan Institute.
