In this engaging documentary, Iranian born, LA-based photographer and attorney, Sara Anjargolian, uncovers the bitter reality of poverty in Armenia, an unrelentingly difficult existence for a staggering number of Armenians. Having lived in Armenia, her collected photographs reveal the
rich layers of Armenia’s socio-economic fabric, refusing to let the country’s marginalized lives go unnoticed. Her powerful exhibition, supported by the Tufenkian Foundation, has toured through various cities in North America, raising awareness of not only the socially and economically marginalized, but of the paths available to alleviate the striking level of poverty. Through the powerful medium of photography, Anjargolian simultaneously captures the general contours and individuality of several poverty-stricken Armenian families, who remain steadfast in hope and resilience, undeterred by their harsh circumstances.
